A Student's Perspective: 5th Annual Fashion: Now & Then Conference

This weekend, LIM College's Adrian G. Marcuse Library hosted the 5th Annual Fashion: Now & Then: Passé, Presente, 未来 Conference. I was lucky enough to attend the conference as a student worker. While I was technically working the event, I was able to learn a lot by listening to the different presenters. I was the moderator for Session M. For this session, presenters spoke about how different members of society are changing fashion. I was able to learn about how African American consumer behavior has changed from the era of slavery to the 21st Century, how the millennial generation is influencing the fashion industry through their demands of innovation and how young Chinese consumers are different from the generations before them. By participating in the Fashion: Now & Then Conference, I was able to connect with professionals in the industry and learn about their areas of expertise. It is an understatement to say the conference was a success as many of the participants and presenters constantly reminded the student workers of how much they were enjoying themselves. I look forward to what next year will bring!
